Visual Puzzle

I’m having a lot of fun with the scanner and photos I took in Morocco.

This one’s from Marrakesh, a hotel on the central market square.

Look at the moldings below the yellow stripes – they can all be pointing towards the right or the left.  It depends on how you interpret the shadows.

If you see the light as coming from the top left, they’re facing to the left and the dark bits are the shadows cast by the moldings.  Cover the bottom half of the image, so only the yellow strips and the sculptured detail shows, then you can see it more easily.

If you see the light as coming from below right, they’re facing to the right and the dark bits are the left sides of the moldings.   Cover the stripes and you’ll be able to see it from this perspective.

Does that fascinate you?  Drive you crazy?  Not?  Oh well, it does me.  On which philosophical note I’m going to bed.

This is good night world from Africa.

  1. Hi Jennifer,
Interesting, I would not have even given the photo a third look.

Just a tip the red on blue makes your header hard on the eyes and for some very hard to read I can make out the stepping out of history but not what is under it.
